Have you always wanted to learn the art of bicycle frame painting?

This is your chance to experience the basics in the art of bicycle frame painting from Metal Guru at Vicious Cycles’ world headquarters in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley.

Classes feature a low student to instructor ratio and flexible course scheduling. The class will consist of lectures, demos and hands on learning. Students will finish the class with a fresh paint job they complete in class.

The basic paint class is structured as a 20-hour course, given over 2 1/2 days. This class is limited to two students per session.

The course will focus on single color and panel paint work with vinyl frame decals, this is because our main goals in teaching is that the student gains a basic understanding of the process and extremely elaborate paint schemes become a distraction that would inhibit learning of the basics.

Topics covered will include, safety, acrylic urethane paint systems, shop supplies, spray equipment, application techniques, basics of frame graphics, painter's terms, identifying and solving paint problems.

Your tuition will include the following, personal eye and respiratory protection, use of the Vicious Cycles’ paint facilities, instruction, handout materials, paint materials and other consumable materials for one frame. It does not include removal of any existing paint on your frame, your lodging, travel expenses, or personal living expenses.

Students must note that there is not enough class time for paint stripping, so students frames need to be in a raw state prior to class.

The tuition and raw materials costs for the paint class is $1400.

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $650 is required to reserve space. Payment in full is due TWO weeks prior to the beginning of the course. Prior to your class we will schedule a phone call with you to answer any questions you may have and discuss the details of the class.
